The Entity Chapter 07-05
Lips tight, Jahv nods. He raises an eye towards Arion, who replies:
"Altitude slightly negative from ground level."
Niklas has a weird look at him, so Arion translates:
"The Entity is no longer floating over the ground. It is dragging through it, which slows it noticeably." Niklas –and the others- sigh in relief, then turn back to Jahv who is frantically checking his calculating device. Then he looks around and speaks in a tight voice:
« Slowing it, but not enough. Go away you all, behind this voluptor. There is a risk this bag of whatnots will just burst aflame, but there is a non-zero probability it won't, and if the case, this will really block this Entity!»
The Entity Chapter 07-06
Keyro trots away from his brother, grabbing on his way Martin and Keith who just kept gaping of non- understanding:
« Come on. We'll be safer behind the voluptor. »
Niklas points at Jahv:
« But... »
The Entity Chapter 07-08
Jahv waves his head:
« This is our last chance. I can't do anything more here. If it works we are safe. If not... Now go.» Jahv waits until all his friends are behind the big piece of hardware that is the voluptor (and armored hardware it is), then carefully codes a long suite of numbers on the control unit of his device. Then he looks around, grabs a pole 2 yards long and walks away as far as possible from the unit. He moves the other end of the pole until it is on a specific point of the control unit, then lowers it... and jumps back at the contact, running like mad to join his friends.
The Entity Chapter 07-09
There is a crackling noise, then a flash of green light, and a whistling noise getting louder and louder, like a giant kettle ready to burst. The boys feel a wave of heat going THROUGH the voluptor... and eventually the light and the sound recess back to a bearable level.
Jahv sighs:
« No explosion so far. I programmed the control unit for a specific duration. Arion, please have a look at the display?»
The Entity Chapter 07-10
Arion studies the figures, then closes his eyes:
"I believe you got it. It no longer moves."
The general sigh is followed by a chorus of cheers, while Keyro and Martin embrace Jahv. « You got it! You got it! We are saved!»
Keith wipes his brows off the sweat, then asks:
« Hot in here, isn't it? What now? »
The Entity Chapter 07-11
Jahv extracts himself from the embrace of Keyro and Niklas, then shows his hand to Arion: « Let me have a look, please? »
Arion sits by Jahv, while Niklas and Keyro make room, looking over the shoulders.
Soon the boys notice some new parameters flashing on the display. Niklas asks:« What does this mean? »
Jahv replies:
“They show the Z-axis position of the Entity”
Niklas frowns:
« Please translate in plain language, with words as short as possible.... ».
Jahv smiles and replies:
“It is sinking into the ground!”
Keyro comments:
“No wonder, without its anti-gravity or whatever, it is too dense for the ground and subsides into it”. Niklas adds:
“Good riddance! I understand it can no longer chase us? Now what?”
Javh hands the display back to Arion and stands up:
« Let us go farther so our beamers won’t be disturbed. »
The Entity Chapter 07-12
Prince Arion remained still, looking pensively at the display.
“What did Lyel say about the geology of the planet?”
