Save for the Niklas & Friends gang (and the three-boobed blue girl), everything was posed (by me) and rendered in XNALara, using 3D models some guys extracted from computer games… There is an IMPRESSIVE library, and I used the models somewhat fitting the realistic style, and diverse enough to account for the numerous species found on the planet.
You certainly noticed in the previous pics we have R2D2 and the other "rolling-ball" bot plus Luke, Mickey and Donald, Jabba the Hutt and others I don't know where they came from. 😉

Jahv was still using his scanner, shifting from a view to the other, trying various sensitivity levels. "It is growing fast indeed. See the energy beams? They are now going farther than the girls. I'd bet it won't need them for long, and will be able to control people by a distance. Thankfully it is slow, moving like an amoeba."
"Why doesn't it drown into the ground, if it is that heavy?" asked Prince Arion.
'Don't know. Possibly it uses some compensation or anti-grav field", replied Jahv.
"Can't you analyze this?" added the Prince.
"My sensors are not granular enough, and the thing is too heavy"

I tried another technique to preserve the shadows from XNALara. It even allows to "project" them on the drawings! So you can see the shadow of Keyro's head over Niklas and Jahv bodies (without the antennas, though…)
@lyel : Actually I don't play computer games at all, as my old linux laptop probably wouldn't run any 😝 But I did read some mangas and watch some animes in my life, Levi is a rather specific character from "Attack on Titan" so a rather widely known one 😉 Just Very funny to see that particular guy there... He'd better not be giving lectures on 3dimensional warfare to soulans 🤐
@anthony Ah ok… I never read mangas, as for anime, all I remember is the original Dragonball series !!

We switched to a comics layout for this one!
LOTS more work, but such concepts as "increasing exponentially" weren't easy to convey with a simple drawing!
This is my very first page in such format. Had to figure the layout, then pose the boys in XNALara, build a first layout with XNALara renders, on which the artist based his drawings.
Then back to PhotoShop to integrate the drawings with XNALara renders (without the CGed boys of course). Plus the balloons…
