Ok, did my own quick research. Actually "Dark Past" was written by Jonathan, and James was involved as well. I was close enough about Eidan being involved, he did the 3D art for the story. It had it's own separate website back in 2012, and then a new one, shortly after that. Actually, Lyel, James sent you an e-mail on 27 of june 2012 mentioning "Dark Past", Though I don't know if it ever reached you.
Whoever did the Tropes definitely did his homework there... probably at least a part of it was written by someone closely involved, as the "Dark Past" never really went very public.
@anthony now that you mention 3D art it does sound kinda familiar. I may have at least seen that much of it somewhere but not know what it was.
It would be pretty cool to find this story archived somewhere.

2012!!!! Don't know HOW you found this (old N&F site archives?). Any clue to which address it was sent? Unlikely I can find it back anyway… the email I used back then is still the same, but the hosting company changed and all the old mails are gone…

2012... Dang, I was 15 back then... Thanks to the internet archeology I did to find that, I also found some really old photos of myself, that I didn't even remember. nice, two rabbits with one stone 😉
